Gosh, there have got to be at least 11 of these Hellraiser movies. Take your pick. I must say that the first Hellraiser movie was so horrific that I had to walk out for awhile. I like horror movies but, at the time, it was a bit too much. And, no, I don't watch the Saw Movies. Thanks YTS.
After a long time, found a good horror movie. Horror movie of the year... Although "Malignant" was the best...
Brilliant, this is how you bring a franchise back. 10/10 from me and I have seen and binge watch all of the Hellraiser's many times
it is cheddar gorgeous,,, omg!!!! lol!!!!
These have all been made for years now because the rights contract reverts if they don't follow a min release schedule. The last one was adapted from a story that wasn't even about Hellraiser at all and just had some things turned to Cenobites a viola.
Not as good as the first two but pretty okay. It does "subvert expectations," which is a bit of a letdown.
@Onmitsu, having an ambiguous Hell Priest is actually closer to the source material, but your comment makes me think its rare for you to pick up a book.
@filmcritix ------ dont get it in your eyes!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-D
Cheddar Gorgeous, is that you?
i really just wish hollywood would get some new material!!!!!!!!!! this was butchered,,, absolutely butchered!!!!
thanks!!!
it is better than its predecessor with the exception of the very first film about this, it's decent 7/10
I think this movie was a victim of it's own legacy. While not a bad movie by any stretch of the imagination, there where things that sadly lacked. For instance, Pinhead. For those that have negatively commented on Pinhead being a woman, you know little of the source material, The Hellbound Heart. But in saying that Jamie Clayton's portrial of the Hell priest lacked a certain gravitas found in earlier Doug Bradly outings. Her lines didn't really match the solemnity of the character that many of us already knew. And what of the puzzle box itself? From what little I remember of the original story, it was as in the original movies, opening the lament configuration was ultimately a choice in search of great rewards in the form of having your desires met. The box and by extention the Cenobites where all about this goal. However with this new movie it is not made altogether clear what solving the box ultimately acheived for the solver and only towards the middle of the movie it became more about getting stabbed by the box rather than ultimately solving it (for the gift of one's desires) The movie itself as I said was not a bad movie, it does pale when held up to the blood red glow of the Hellraiser movies that have (mostly) gone before it.
More proof of Hollywood's complete lack of creativity and any original ideas. Three quarters of today's prime time shows are reboots of shows from the 70's, 80's and 90's. They're lazy. Easier to copy and "re-imagine" past hit shows and movies than come up with their own ideas. It's a shame that an entire generation are getting cheated out of almost any decent and original entertainment.
I HAVE TO SEE THE MANAGER!
I'd say up until 8 they are all worth watching, with 1 and 2 being bonafide classics of the genre, 3 is very underrated, and 5 is a hidden gem. This one, i won't even bother to invest.
Hellraiser 1, 2 (Hellbound), 5 (Inferno), and 10 (Judgment) are my favorites, they were the most creative. 4 (Bloodline) and 6 (Hellseeker) were entertaining and the rest ranged from mediocre to unwatchable. As for this reboot... ehhhh.... Hollywood is definitely out of of ideas if all they can come up with is "let's make Pinhead female".
Sequels should stop beyond a point, it has lost its charm and tends to bore. Another attempt to reboot once successful movies of 80s. Miserable
@Davey420, @backwards9, and @error404face - Nah, movies 1, 2, and 6 were good. 3 was the worst of the lot... until 8 came out, which was the worst until 9. 10 wasn't great, but at they tried. Movies 1 and 2 are the only ones that are really linked. All the others are pretty independent from each other. Apparently movies 5-8 started out as non-Hellraiser scripts, but were adapted into the franchise.
this movie is so boring, 50 minutes in and only 3 people get cut and taken away in boring ways.
@backwards9 ---- Best advice ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Halloween Ends before the world ends, please. It's a shame we won't be around this time next year to see the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Total bummer. But thanks.
think I will give it a go can't judge without watching it
hellraisher
@Error Do yourself a favor and stop at the forth film. Everything after that is a dumpster fire.
i have never seen any of these films.. so im gonna binge them all before this one.. woohoo thanks like so much for the content, and letting me get out of myself and distracted for a couple days ...
I think i will stick with the originals... rebooting this seems so wrong..
