Three hours of sheer boredom with the whole focus of the film being on Norma Jean's father who abandoned her mother before she was born. Nothing new on offer. A lot of nude shots, Marilyn calling her husbands "Daddy" the babies she couldn't have, her intelligence got short shrift and her drug taking a huge focus, fed by her handlers.
John F. Kennedy, the womanizer, is depicted in a particularly revolting scene.
Shock value ruled the day and nothing new was added.
Totally disappointing and the words that comes to mind are crude and vulgar. Good imitative performance from Ana.
But not worth a re-watch or an award of any kind.
2/10.
Plot summary
From director Andrew Dominik, and based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, 'Blonde' boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood's most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, 'Blonde' blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.

Exploitive and flat
Like spitting on her grave
Anyone who knew about or cared about Marilyn would have written a movie about a beautiful, vulnerable creature who came across as so lovable on the screen, yet never got the love she deserved from those close to her.
If someone wants to make a twisted, raunchy movie, they are free to do so. What is wrong is to USE a famous icon to do it. The author of the book and the director/writer of the movie could have created a fictional Monroe type character but they chose not to. Why? Because they knew if they exploited a beloved icon they'd get far more attention. They are p*mping this poor woman.
Marilyn Monroe had a difficult, unstable and lonely childhood. She had no one to protect her and no one to guide her. She struggled long and hard to become a star. She was built up by a studio who saw her looks, charisma and raw talent. She was basically a piece of meat to them.
The public adored her, but she had to struggle to cope and survive as a beautiful actress in 1950s Hollywood. She was mostly a gentle, sensitive soul. This obviously had to be difficult for her.
She turned to pills to be able to sleep, and pills to keep her weight down. She was on a foggy roller coaster ride. She had friends who wouldn't or couldn't help her. The most desired woman in the world was basically alone to fight for herself. On top of that, I've read old movie magazine articles of the time calling her old at 36!
Marilyn is still an icon 60 years since her death. Why? People still love watching her in her films. She personifies glamour, vulnerability and sensuality all in one. People identify with her vulnerability and some of the problems she faced. They also realize her untapped potential.
This woman made people happy and made people laugh. She made mistakes like anyone else with no guidance and on their own. Still, she wasn't a ruthless, nasty person. I doubt she ever got as much as she gave.
Let her rest. Don't make up some twisted story and use her tragedy to promote your book, movie or yourself. She was used enough in her lifetime.
Disgusting
This was so difficult to get through. It felt so messy and everything was one tone the entire way through, it was disaster after disaster with no room to breathe. I feel like even though this was a long film it didn't show who Monroe actually was, it focused on everything bad which I see what they were trying to do and what led her to taking her life but it was too much. There is also very sexual (sexual assault) scenes and they are so uncomfortable and unnecessary and felt a little disrespectful to show especially for that long! A lot of unnecessary nudity to be honest and abortion scenes which were too long and showed way too much and this happened 2/3 times it was horrific. This movie had these problems the entire way through and it was 3 hours! It was way too long for what we got, not worth the watch at all.

Ignore the haters. de Armas is brilliant and is absolutely worth your time. The problem here is the length of the film...it's way too long and I found myself tuning out, de Armas or not.
OSCAR GOES TO ANA DE ARMAS
i rate it 1/10 .
FREEMAN!!! please re-upload with proper aspect ratio.
THIS FILM INTRODUCED A LOT OF 'SUGGESTED THEORIES' INTO MONROE'S CHILDHOOD. THE PASSAGE INTO THE SCENE WHERE THE DIRECTOR HAD BOTH MOTHER & DAUGHTER DESCRIBE A TALE SUGGESTING THAT MONROE HAD A BABY BROTHER WHO DIED WHILE SLEEPING IN A DRESSER DRAWER. THIS WAS CLEARLY FICTIONAL. THERE IS NO AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MONROE REVEALING NOR MENTIONING SHE HAD ANY YOUNGER OR OLDER SIBBLINGS. SHE WAS AN ONLY CHILD. THE TELLING OF HER RISE TO FAME WAS TRULY DRAMATIC AND VERY SAD.
THIS WAS A VERY GOOD MOVIE. TO UNDERSTAND THE TALKING PHOTO OF THE MAN THAT RESEMBLES "CLARK GABLE" IN THE PICTURE FRAME IS SIMPLE. THE DIRECTOR WAS TELLING IT'S AUDIENCE THAT HER MOTHER HAD BECOME DELUSIONAL WHILE TELLING "NORMA-GENE" THIS CRAZY STORY ABOUT HER DADDY BEING THIS FAMOUS MOVIE STAR SHE STALKED. UNTIL SHE WAS LATER PLACED INTO A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL. THE TALKING FETUSES WERE TELLING THE STORY OF HER OWN DEVELOPMENT OF MENTAL BREAK DOWNS THAT HAD STARTED JUST LIKE HER MOTHER'S OWN MENTAL DELUSIONS.
THIS 'DOCUMENTARY' WAS NOT ABOUT THE LIFE OF "MARILYN MONROE". IT IS ABOUT THE LITTLE GIRL; NORMA-GENE, WHO LATER BECAME MARILYN MONROE. THE MOVIE WAS BASED ON MENTALLY DISTURBING EVENTS THAT CAUSED HER HEAVILY INDUCED DRINKING AND DRUG ABUSE THAT FINALLY TOOK IT'S TOLL AND DROVE 'MS. MONROE' TO COMMITT SUICIDE. THIS WAS A PERSON WHO HAD NO ONE TO TURN TO WHEN TIMES WERE VERY DIFFICULT TO ENDURE. WATCHING THE MOVIE AGAIN CAN SOMETIMES CLEAR UP CONFUSION OF DECENT PORTRAYALS IN 'MISUNDERSTOOD BIO-PIC' FILMS.
Ana de Armas' acting is SUPERB. The movie has very "creepy" and surreal feeling to it. It's not everyone's cup of tea but Ana's acting is EFFING EPIC. No other actress has come even close to the greatness Ana has achieved interpreting the most enigmatic woman of the last century. You can hate or love the movie but you will definitely not forget Ana's performance.
This could of been a good movie, It's all fiction, 2:47 mins. long, I think we watched about 20 min or so then started fast forwarding. LAME
Marilyn was killed by the mob
Reupload with proper aspect ratio.
This movie is long and drawn out just to point out the fact that her life was really bad. Like in one of the reviews on here said, it was too artsy for me. I give this movie a generous 3/10...
this was too artsy for its own good. just switching between color and black and white, the plot constantly jumping points. Ana's acting is good, she has got Marilyn's mannerisms down to a science, but the moment you look at her, that charm is gone. Overall, i would not recommend.
Thanks!
A very raw portrayal of MM and her life. I think Ana did quite well considering the fact this was the first movie she's playing the lead role. I am not sure how much of these are true but well, its a long film. I would give it a 6/10 for her acting alone. The story line maybe could have been shortened. The likeness (makeup and all) to MM is really uncanny. Well done on that front. Reminds me of Kristen in the Diana movie. But I'd give a 5/10 to the whole movie.
40mins in, this is hard to watch think ima call it. 3hrs aint no way I'm torturing myself.
You know it's bad when Critics and Audience score go hand in hand.
MM was a slob in real life,,,,she used to Sleep on top of her food and throw food at the maids. Look it up
Ana de Armas = no talent
This shows that stardom is not all it is cracked up to be. The money is great, but your privacy and your personal life are shattered. You can't go out in public anymore. You have to live behind walls in seclusion for the rest of your life. Clearly, it takes a serious toll on your mental health. It was the same for every big star that I have ever heard, from Marilyn, to Elvis, and Michael Jackson, Prince, and even Princess Diana.
Thank you!
Shyte!
is there t1ddies? let me know
Ana de Armas = total smokeshow
its good movie... i like it
Hollywood should be called DeadWood.. Or Regurgitators
I know it is only a remake of 'My Favorite Wife' but I wish Marilyn finished 'Something's Got To Give' but Century Fox remade it to 'Move over, Darling' still, it would have been great if she completed it. Nonetheless, I'm a fan of her work and I have seen most of her movies. I cannot believe YTS still do not have 'The Prince & The Showgirl' which I requested long time ago. Anyway, great copy FREEMAN.
CROPPED.
More proof that Hollywood has run out of Ideas!
